About Shirley and the Clinic
Shirley McDonald is a trichologist with over 30 years of experience in the hair care industry. As a Fellow and trainer for the Institute of a trichology (IOT). She has a deep knowledge and understanding of scalp health and hair growth, having studied the latest research and advancements in the field. She specialises in helping people overcome their hair-related issues, including alopecia, dandruff, thinning hair and balding. Shirley’s approach to trichology is holistic with attention given to factors like lifestyle, diet & hair care. She deals with all hair types including Afro at her two practices and has 30 years of teaching experience.
Mission
Shirley McDonald is a Consultant Trichologist with over 30 years experience. Her aim is to adopt a holistic approach with attention given to lifestyle, diet, hair care and other factors which may contribute to the patient’s condition. Shirley deals in all hair types including those with Afro-textured hair at her London and Birmingham practice. She is a clinical tutor and a board director with responsibility for professional practice and ethics (Chair of Ethics) for The Institute of Trichologists (IoT). Alongside this she has been featured in a number of journals including the Metro newspaper, Black Hair magazine, Business Insider and appeared on different news television and radio items for both the BBC and ITV stations. Currently research scarring hair loss in young men and women.

Business Insider UK spoke to trichologist Shirley McDonald about possible cures for baldness. Hair transplants don't 'cure' baldness but do provide a good cover. There are a few other products that can prevent baldness but they must be taken continuously. McDonald also said that treatments are constantly advancing, and a cure may not be far away.
